Overview: Moiwa is the shorter of Makomanai Country Club's two 18-hole routings, with a current back-tee total of 6,684 yards and par 72. It sits in the wooded southern hills of Sapporo beside the Shikotsu-Toya National Park area, where mature trees and changing ground frame the holes. The official guide shows five tee levels, so the course can be played as a strategic shorter test or stretched into a more demanding championship round.
History: Makomanai Country Club opened on 15 June 1969 as a 36-hole facility designed by Nobukatsu Marumo. Moiwa remains one half of that original identity, alongside Soranuma. The current club information and course guide keep the two routings separate, which is important because their yardages, hole sequences and playing characters differ even though they share an address and clubhouse operation.
Did You Know? Moiwa's official back-tee course rating is 72.6, and the fifteenth hole can reach 608 yards from the back markers. Those figures show why the course should not be judged only by its shorter total. The routing mixes reachable-looking holes with long par fives and elevated approach decisions, so a player often gains more from choosing the correct line than from simply trying to overpower the course.
