Overview: Designed by 2014 Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley, Macreddin Golf Club is carved out of the rugged Wicklow mountain landscape. Opened in 2008, the course is famous for its significant elevation changes and its unhurried, secluded forest character. Characterized by its narrow landing zones and its integration with the ancient woodland of the BrookLodge estate, Macreddin offers a visceral test of strategic golf where the natural terrain has been used to create a series of spectacular and high-stakes holes.
Did You Know? McGinley utilized the natural rock formations and the diverse topography of the valley to create a layout that feels much longer than its yardage suggests. The course is particularly noted for its exceptional natural beauty and its "off-the-map" atmosphere, providing a peaceful and visually grand escape where the only sounds are the wind from the mountains and the calls of the local wildlife.
