Overview: Mälarö Golfklubb’s 1–18 course at Skytteholm on Ekerö is an inland links-style layout near Lake Mälaren. It is the main course in the club’s 27-hole facility, with open views, firm playing surfaces, fast greens and many bunkers shaping a strategic round. The course’s inland setting does not remove the links character: wind, ground conditions and approach angles remain central to the test.
History: The 18-hole course opened in 1994 as part of the Skytteholm golf facility. Tommy Nordström is credited with the course design in current Swedish course information. The green areas were renovated in 2009 and creeping bentgrass was introduced on the greens, helping establish the firm, fast putting surfaces associated with the course.
Did You Know? Mälarö’s 17th hole has been voted one of Sweden’s 100 best golf holes by Svensk Golf. It is part of an 18-hole routing that shares the property with a separate nine-hole course, so the club offers 27 full-size holes at Skytteholm.
