Overview: Lost Rail is a private course in Gretna, Nebraska, set across rolling ground southwest of Omaha. Scott Hoffman routed the course through open land, native vegetation and natural drainage, giving the layout a spacious character that changes with the land rather than relying on heavy earthmoving.
History: The course opened in 2022 on roughly 150 acres. Its name refers to the old railroad lines associated with the property, while the design grew from Hoffman’s work with the site’s gullies, brook and changes in elevation.
Did You Know? Golf Digest describes a routing with three uphill holes and ten downhill holes, alongside six dogleg-left and six dogleg-right holes. The repeated change of direction is part of what keeps the course from feeling one-dimensional.
