Overview: Los Arqueros Golf is an 18-hole mountain course in Benahavís, north of Marbella. Designed by Severiano Ballesteros, it uses the natural folds of the foothills to create a round in which elevation, sightlines and club selection are inseparable from the scenery. The course is par 71 and the federation’s white-tee total is 5,729 metres, or approximately 6,272 yards. Mediterranean vegetation and views toward the coast frame a layout that asks for precision without relying on a single signature hazard.
History: Los Arqueros opened in 1991 and was Ballesteros’s first design in the Costa del Sol. The club was planned as part of the region’s residential golf expansion, but the course retains a more natural, hilly character than a flat resort layout. Its identity has been reinforced by the way the fairways follow the land and by the club’s continued emphasis on the original routing.
Did You Know? The official course description highlights holes 3, 8 and 13 as especially memorable. They illustrate the design’s central idea: the best way around Los Arqueros is usually to control position and angle first, then use the dramatic mountain setting as the reward.
