Overview: The East/South combination at Royal Vista Golf Club is an 18-hole routing within Walnut’s 27-hole facility near the City of Industry. Ted Robinson Sr.’s design uses a compact Southern California parkland setting, with tree-lined corridors, shaped greens and enough changes in angle to keep a short-to-moderate card interesting. The Southern California Golf Association lists the East/South combination at par 70 and 5,929 yards from its blue tees.
History: Royal Vista grew from the earlier Royal Vista Golf Club, whose East and South nines were part of the facility’s original 1960s development. The club’s three-nine structure allows different 18-hole combinations, and that is why the directory distinguishes East/South from North/South. Treating the combinations separately is important: each card represents a different round even though the clubhouse and address are shared.
Did You Know? Environmental documentation records the East and South nines as distinct nine-hole courses, with the East nine slightly longer than the South. The result is a routing that can feel more varied than a single fixed 18 because the second nine changes with the day’s combination. Royal Vista’s identity is therefore as much about its three-nine flexibility as it is about its architect.
