Overview: Nestled within the dramatic foothills of the Sierra de Almenara, Lorca Golf Resort is a creative and technical masterpiece designed by the renowned architect Dave Thomas. Inaugurated in late 2011, the par-71 course is uniquely positioned as the only layout in the Murcia region situated directly adjacent to a protected natural park. The 18-hole routing is ingeniously built into a natural ravine, utilizing the existing topography to create organic hazards that include dry ditches and strategic water areas. At an elevation of 500 meters above sea level, the course offers wide, inviting fairways and large, multi-tiered greens that demand precise approach play, all while providing panoramic views of the rugged mountain landscape.
Did You Know? The course is celebrated for its visual drama, featuring 26 pristine white-sand bunkers that serve as a striking contrast to the deep emerald fairways and the arid mountain backdrop. Beyond its design, Lorca Golf Resort serves as a vital ecological gateway, where the silence of the neighboring natural park becomes an integral part of the golfing experience. Despite periods of temporary closure, the resort remains a landmark of modern Murcian golf, remembered for its state-of-the-art training facilities—including a 250-meter driving range—and its commitment to preserving the traditional high-altitude landscape of southeastern Spain.
