Overview: Lonsdale Links is a modern coastal course at Point Lonsdale, where sandy ground, low vegetation and the shifting shapes of the Bellarine landscape provide the design vocabulary. Ogilvy Cocking Mead's par-70 routing uses broad playing corridors, firm-running approaches and carefully framed greens to create a course that feels open without becoming undefined. The best lines are often visible from the tee, but the correct side of a fairway still matters when the approach is shaped by a bank, hollow or bunker.
History: The club began in 1921 and held its first nine-hole opening day in November 1922. A new chapter began with the complete redevelopment led by Ogilvy Cocking Mead, after which the new course and clubhouse opened to the public in December 2020. The current course is therefore a recent routing built on a much older club story, rather than a simple continuation of the original nine holes.
Did You Know? The redevelopment was influenced by classic strategic templates, but Lonsdale Links is not a museum of copied holes. Its identity comes from translating familiar ideas into the site's own dunes, wind and scale. That combination gives the course a sense of architectural memory while keeping the round recognisably of the Bellarine Peninsula.
