Overview: Links on Longboat is the 18-hole coastal routing at Longboat Key Club, formerly known as Islandside. The current course record lists par 71 and 6,748 yards from the blue tees. Gulf breezes, expansive natural areas, broad greens, small waterways and salt-tolerant Platinum Paspalum give this barrier-island course a character that is distinctly different from the club's Harbourside nines.
History: William F. Mitchell designed the original course, which current course records date to 1961. Ron Garl redesigned the routing in 2014, reshaping all 18 greens and re-grassing the course. Some club material uses 2015 for the redesign, so the one-year difference is retained in the notes. The former Islandside name remains important for matching older course records to today's Links on Longboat identity.
Did You Know? The club describes small waterways running beside most holes, a feature behind the original “watery challenge” description. More than 5,000 palm trees and lines of pink and white oleander also frame the current routing.
