Overview: Lone Palms Golf Club is an 18-hole private course in Lakeland, set across nearly 400 acres of Central Florida landscape. The current course record lists par 72 and 7,090 yards from the green tees. Dick Wilson's original routing and Steve Smyers' later renovation combine long fairways, strategic bunkering, water and fast greens in a demanding but varied parkland setting.
History: Publix founder George W. Jenkins founded the club in 1964, and the course officially opened on March 8, 1965. Dick Wilson designed the original layout, which was renovated by Steve Smyers in 1995. The club's current golf page continues to identify both the Wilson design and Smyers redesign, preserving the distinction between the founding date and the course opening.
Did You Know? A detailed course profile notes that no two fairways sit next to one another, so the 18-hole route moves through changing scenery rather than repeating the same corridor. That separation is a defining feature of Lone Palm's large site.
