Overview: The Kathu layout covers 18 holes in Kathu, central Phuket, positioned between the island’s west-coast resort areas and the city side of the island. The current course guide lists par 72 and 6,555 yards from the blue tees, with rolling ground, lush fairways and a large natural lake giving the layout its name and visual focus. Dr. Sukitti Klangwisai is credited with the design. Multiple tee positions and a resort-oriented layout make Loch Palm a practical visitor course, while the changing elevation gives it more movement than a flat coastal resort round.
History: The course opened in 1996 and became part of Phuket’s early modern golf circuit, alongside Blue Canyon, Laguna and Phuket Country Club. Its setting in a former mining and hill landscape helped distinguish it from the island’s flatter courses. The published course cards vary by tee set, but consistently identify the same current 18-hole, par-72 routing and the Sukitti design, so the profile keeps the official blue-tee figure as a reference rather than presenting it as the only playable length.
Did You Know? Loch Palm is unusually central for a full-length Phuket course: the provincial golf listing places it on Vichitsongkram Road and describes the round through rolling hills and a scenic lake. That geography is why it often appears as the convenient middle ground between the island’s airport-side championship courses and the busy beach districts.
