Overview: Established in 1922 and moving to its current location in Belas in 1964, Lisbon Sports Club is one of Portugal's most historic and traditional golf institutions. The par-69 parkland course, designed by Fred W. Hawtree, is set within a secluded wooded valley and is notable for its complete lack of real estate development on the course itself. The layout is characterized by its narrow, tree-lined fairways and a winding natural water ditch that comes into play on several holes, requiring the tactical precision and accuracy of a traditional "old-style" British course.
Did You Know? The club traces its origins back to the Lisbon Cricket Club, founded in 1873, and was one of the four foundational members of the Portuguese Golf Federation. Despite being close to the city, the course feels like a natural sanctuary; its six par-3 holes are particularly well-regarded, often described as having a distinctly Scottish character hidden within the heart of the Portuguese hills.
