Overview: Located on the island of Öland, Sweden, LinksGolf Öland (formerly Grönhögen) is a spectacular 18-hole coastal links-style course designed by Pierre Fulke. Built on a massive, open plain directly alongside the Kalmar Strait, the layout features wide, highly contoured fairways, extensive deep-faced pot bunkers, and large, fast green complexes. The course is entirely treeless and heavily exposed to severe coastal winds, requiring highly creative ground-game shots.
History: Opened in 2004, the course was built to bring authentic, high-quality links golf to the Swedish coast. Fulke carefully integrated the routing into the rugged coastal terrain, creating a pure, firm-and-fast aesthetic that is widely considered one of the premier links experiences in Scandinavia.
Did You Know? The course is built on a massive, historic limestone plateau known as the Stora Alvaret, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This unique geological foundation provides an incredibly firm, fast-draining subsoil that ensures pure links playing conditions.
