Overview: Lindrick is an inland heathland course near Worksop with firm greens, strategic bunkering and gorse-lined fairways. The R&A lists the championship course at par 70 and 6,725 yards, and the layout’s natural hazards are central to its reputation as a demanding championship venue.
History: Sheffield and District Golf Club was founded in 1891, with the original nine holes associated with Buff Wilson and Old Tom Morris. The course reached eighteen holes in 1894 and has since been refined by a long succession of architects, including Harry Colt, Willie Park Jr., Alister MacKenzie and Fred Hawtree.
Did You Know? Lindrick hosted the 1957 Ryder Cup, when Great Britain and Ireland defeated the United States, and it also hosted the Curtis Cup and the AIG Women’s Open.
