Overview: The Front/Lake configuration at Lester Park combines the traditional parkland routing of the original 18 with the more dramatic, modern challenges of the Lake nine added by Dick Phelps. This layout is characterized by its technical routing, significant water hazards, and its spectacular integration into the rugged coastline terrain. The Lake holes are particularly noted for their elevation changes and demanding approach shots, offering a more rigorous test than the traditional parkland loops. The combination provides a diverse and visually engaging municipal golf experience that showcases the natural beauty of the North Shore.
Did You Know? Despite its popularity and iconic views of Lake Superior, the course was closed by the City of Duluth in 2020 for potential redevelopment.
