Les Bordes Golf Club (New)

Overview: The New Course at Les Bordes is an 18-hole heathland routing in the Loire Valley near Saint-Laurent-Nouan. Gil Hanse used the estate's sandy subsoil and gently rolling ground to create wide corridors framed by natural fescue and heather. In contrast to the tighter character associated with the older course on the property, the New Course gives the ground game more room while still demanding careful positioning into its green complexes.

History: Gil Hanse was selected in 2018 to design the new course on land west of the existing Robert von Hagge layout. The project debuted on 16 July 2021 and was Hanse's first course design project in continental Europe. Les Bordes describes the New Course as a deliberate contrast to the Old Course, while remaining tied to the estate's sandy, wooded setting in the Sologne.

Did You Know? The Les Bordes estate also includes the ten-hole Wild Piglet short course, another Gil Hanse design dating from 2020. That gives the property three distinct forms of golf, with the New Course's heathland routing occupying a different architectural role from both the Old Course and the short course.
