Overview: Battlefield is the north-side 18-hole course at Legends on the Niagara, a public golf destination beside the Niagara River. Douglas Carrick created a routing that combines wide, links-style holes with generous undulating fairways, dense forest and brush. Niagara Parks also highlights water features and the course’s conditioning from tee to green, giving Battlefield a character that shifts between open ground and wooded edge rather than settling into one narrow style.
History: Battlefield was developed as one of two championship courses at the Legends on the Niagara facility, alongside Ussher’s Creek and the separate nine-hole Chippawa course. Niagara Parks’ current material presents the complex as a complete public golf destination with a practice centre and academy, while its course history includes major championship golf, including the 2004 BMO Financial Group Canadian Women’s Open.
Did You Know? The Battlefield name is tied to the historic Niagara landscape, and the course’s fairways cross countryside shaped by that setting rather than a purpose-built resort suburb. The design’s unusual mix of broad links-like holes, dense deciduous edges and water features means the strongest strategy can change from one nine to the next.
