Overview: The Norman Course at Legend Danang Golf Resort is a Greg Norman coastal layout on Vietnam’s central coast between Da Nang, Hoi An and Hue. The 18-hole course plays to par 72 and 7,160 yards, using low-lying sandy ground, broad fairways, natural vegetation and large bunker forms to create a links-influenced test. The coastal setting is open and windy, but the course is not simply a seaside out-and-back. Its strategy comes from deciding when to use the width, when to challenge a bunker line and how to approach greens set within the dunes.
History: Legend Danang opened in 2010 as Vietnam’s first 36-hole golf complex, pairing Norman’s course with a separate Jack Nicklaus course. The resort occupies a large coastal property and deliberately gives the two routings different design characters. Norman’s course is associated with the lower, more natural dune landscape, while the Nicklaus course moves through a separate setting beside the Co Co River. The present complex therefore tells a dual history of two major designers working within one Central Vietnam resort.
Did You Know? The two courses at Legend Danang occupy different areas of the resort: about 150 hectares are assigned to the Norman Course and about 200 hectares to the Nicklaus Course. That split is visible in the way the layouts play. Norman’s routing emphasizes low coastal terrain, expansive sand and natural vegetation, while the companion course uses bulkheads and river-edge features for a more structured visual language.
