Overview: Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes is an 18-hole Tom Fazio design in Longwood. The current course record lists par 72 and 7,160 yards from the black tees, with Bermuda fairways, Tifdwarf greens, mature woodland and elevated tee boxes shaping the experience. The private course borders protected Wekiva State Park habitat and has a distinctly natural Central Florida setting.
History: The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes opened in September 1998 as part of a Taylor Woodrow development and was designed by Tom Fazio. The club later went through financial and ownership changes before a new ownership group restored the course and clubhouse in the late 2000s. Current club history continues to emphasize the original Fazio design while noting a later Ron Garl-designed ninth hole.
Did You Know? Alaqua's protected setting beside Wekiva State Park is home to deer, wild turkey, bald eagles and the occasional black bear, according to the club's own history. The wildlife connection is part of what makes this course different from a typical Florida residential layout.
