Overview: Le Maître is an 18-hole course along the Rivière Diable in the Mont-Tremblant region of Québec. The layout uses roughly 260 acres of forest, shoreline and open views, with the natural relief of the estate providing the main structure for the holes. The current regional golf material lists par 72 and approximately 7,010 yards. Fred Couples worked with Gene Bates, Graham Cooke and Darrel Huxham on the design, creating a course where the shoreline, wooded corridors and changes of elevation shape the preferred line into the greens.
History: Le Maître opened in 1998 as part of Mont-Tremblant’s expansion into a four-season golf destination. The course’s architectural record is unusual because it combines a major champion, Fred Couples, with a team of Canadian architects. The property is now associated with ClubLink and the wider Mont-Tremblant resort corridor, but it remains a separate routing from Le Diable, Le Géant and La Bête. This profile keeps those courses distinct.
Did You Know? The course follows the Rivière Diable, whose name means Devil’s River and links Le Maître geographically with the nearby Le Diable course. The two are not the same routing, however. Le Maître uses a 260-acre forest and shoreline setting, while Le Diable is known for its red-sand bunkers and narrower fairways. The river is the common landscape thread, not a reason to merge the profiles.
