Overview: The Woodlands Course at Lawsonia is a public parkland and woodland layout on the shore of Green Lake, Wisconsin. Joe Lee and Rocky Roquemore's design moves through oak, maple and pine, with tree-lined corridors, elevation changes and lake glimpses giving the course a different rhythm from Lawsonia's older Links Course. The narrow corridors make accuracy important even though the listed yardage is moderate.
History: The first nine holes of the Woodlands opened in 1983 and the second nine followed in 1991. A substantial renovation in 2021 rebuilt bunker and green surrounds and included tree work, while keeping the course's wooded identity.
Did You Know? The third hole drops roughly 65 to 80 feet from its elevated tee to a green set among the trees. The course is also part of a 36-hole property whose other course, the 1930 Links, was designed by William Langford and Theodore Moreau.
