Overview: Laurel Oak's Player Course is an 18-hole Gary Player design in Sarasota. Current course records list par 72 and 7,010 yards from the black tees, with a parkland setting, mature Florida vegetation and a mix of water and bunker hazards. It forms the Player half of Laurel Oak's 36-hole private club alongside the Jones Course.
History: The Player Course, originally known as Laurel Oak's East Course, opened in 1994 according to Florida golf-course reporting. Gary Player designed both the original East Course and the earlier West Course, while Rees Jones later rebuilt the West Course as the Jones Course. Laurel Oak therefore preserves two separate design identities within one club.
Did You Know? Laurel Oak's two course names make the design history easy to read: Gary Player is honoured on the Player Course, while Rees Jones is honoured on the companion Jones Course. Together they mark the club's two principal architectural chapters.
