Overview: Las Sendas Golf Club is a desert-style 18-hole course in east Mesa, winding through the Usery Mountains nearly 1,800 feet above the surrounding desert floor. Robert Trent Jones Jr. made his Arizona debut with the course, which opened in 1995 and plays to par 72. The official club description emphasises rugged terrain, expansive views of the Phoenix skyline and a design that asks for careful management rather than simple distance. Elevation, native desert and changing lies give the course a strong destination identity, even though it remains accessible from the wider Phoenix and Scottsdale markets.
History: Las Sendas has developed a reputation as one of the leading public golf experiences in the Phoenix Valley. The course has been recognised by Golf Digest, GolfWorld and Golfweek, and the current operator records substantial reinvestment since the McBean family took ownership in 2008. That work supports the original Jones design rather than replacing its character. The club’s history is therefore a combination of architectural importance, mountain setting and a continuing effort to maintain the course as a high-discovery Mesa destination.
Did You Know? Las Sendas sits high enough above the valley that the elevated 18th offers broad views across the Phoenix metropolitan area. The final hole is both a scoring problem and a visual summary of the course’s mountain-to-city setting.
