Overview: The Legacy is an 18-hole Arnold Palmer Signature design at Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club. The current official scorecard lists par 72 and 7,009 yards from the black tees, with a varied par-five sequence, generous fairways and Palmer-style strategic hazards. The course is now the fourth private 18-hole routing in the Lakewood Ranch club portfolio.
History: The Legacy opened in 1997 after being developed by Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, according to local reporting from the course's ownership history. The facility changed ownership several times before Heritage Golf Group acquired it in 2024 and repositioned it as Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club's fourth course. Major greens, tees, fairways and bunker improvements followed that acquisition.
Did You Know? The Legacy name links the golf project to the history of Schroeder-Manatee Ranch and the Uihlein family, a connection recorded in contemporary coverage of the original Palmer design. The name therefore refers to the land's development story as well as to Palmer's design legacy.
