Overview: The North Course at Lake of Isles is an 18-hole public-access resort layout in North Stonington, Connecticut. Rees Jones and Bryce Swanson routed the course through wooded New England terrain beside a 90-acre lake. Water, island greens and tees, elevation changes and large green complexes make the course’s visual setting part of its strategic test.
History: Lake of Isles opened in 2005 as the golf component of the Foxwoods resort area. The original design is credited to Rees Jones, with Bryce Swanson identified as co-designer. The course continues to be presented as the North Course within the Lake of Isles resort facility.
Did You Know? The lake is not just a backdrop: it covers roughly 90 acres and comes into play through the routing’s island features and forced carries. Several holes use the water to change the safe angle of approach, so the lake influences decisions even when it is not directly beside the green.
