Overview: Laguna National’s Masters Course is the quieter-looking but highly strategic half of the club’s 36-hole resort. The current official scorecard gives par 72 and 7,101 yards from the black tees. Tree-lined fairways, shaped mounding and crisp, demanding green complexes give it a classic parkland character, while the sequence of long par fives and carefully positioned short holes keeps the round from becoming a simple resort stroll. The course’s visual language is more restrained than the adjacent Classic, but the questions it asks about angles, distance control and recovery are no less serious.
History: The Masters formed part of Laguna National’s original 1993 two-course opening. It is credited to Pete Dye and Perry Dye, whose American design vocabulary can be seen in the use of strong bunkering, shaped ground and greens that reward an approach from the correct side. The club’s official history records the Masters as a host of professional events and notes that the venue has welcomed major international players, helping establish Laguna National as one of Singapore’s most recognisable golf destinations.
Did You Know? The course’s par-five sequence is a useful clue to its character. The 2nd, 7th, 11th and 15th all appear on the official scorecard as par fives, but they are not interchangeable: different lengths and angles make the decision to attack or lay up a genuine strategic choice. That repeated rhythm is one reason the Masters can feel familiar on a second visit while still producing very different scores.
