Overview: Laguna National’s Classic Course is the brawny half of the club’s 36-hole Singapore resort, a par-72 layout measuring 7,471 yards from the current black tees. The club calls it “The Beast,” an apt description for a course that combines long holes, bold bunker shapes, substantial green complexes and enough movement in the ground to make approach angles matter. The modern routing sits close to Changi Airport but feels more like a championship venue than an airport-side convenience course. Players who find the correct side of the fairway are rewarded; those who treat its width as permission to attack every hole can quickly face difficult recoveries.
History: Laguna National was inaugurated in 1993 with two 18-hole courses. The Classic has passed through several design chapters, beginning with the Dye family’s work and later receiving a major IMG redesign in 2017. It has become a regular stage for professional golf, including the DP World Tour’s Porsche Singapore Classic from 2023 through 2025. The current profile is the Classic routing at 11 Laguna Golf Green, kept separate from the neighbouring Masters Course.
Did You Know? The 17th is the course’s most recognisable visual hole: a par three with an island green. It is a fitting late-round test because the short-hole format does not make the decision simple; the island target turns wind, carry distance and landing-angle judgment into the central problem. The Classic’s tournament identity also comes from its ability to stretch into a demanding championship setup while retaining multiple teeing options.
