Overview: Lago Mar Country Club is a private 18-hole course in Plantation, set between residential South Florida and the Everglades. The course plays to par 72 and 7,053 yards from the longest tees in the detailed current record. The original Bill Watts design was reshaped by Kipp Schulties, with lakes, fairway choices and varied par fours making accuracy central to the modern layout.
History: Lago Mar was constructed in 1969 by Walter Banks, who wanted a golf amenity connected to the Lago Mar Resort Hotel. The club was sold to its members in 1980. A 1998 greens and practice-area renovation preceded a major 2009 overhaul by Kipp Schulties, after a Florida Department of Transportation drainage agreement provided capital for new tees, greens, irrigation, fairways, roughs and paths.
Did You Know? A current course review notes that water is present on all 18 holes. The water is therefore part of the routing's strategic identity, not just a backdrop for the private club's Everglades-facing setting.
