Overview: The North/South routing at the current La Valle Coastal Club is a private 18-hole combination in Rancho Santa Fe, playing to par 71 and about 6,614 yards. The course moves through coastal foothill terrain with mature planting and changing lies, while the separate routing history explains why older references may call it Morgan Run.
History: The original club’s 18-hole course opened in 1965 under Henry and David Rainville, Inc. The East nine was added in 1973, the property became Morgan Run in 1993, and Jay Morrish redesigned the North and South courses in 1996. The current operator uses the La Valle Coastal Club name for the 27-hole facility.
Did You Know? North/South is not simply another name for East/South. They are different combinations from the same 27-hole property, with separate published yardages and a different architectural chapter because Jay Morrish’s 1996 work focused on the North and South courses.
