Overview: La Iguana Golf Course at Los Sueños is an 18-hole resort layout in Herradura, Puntarenas, set between the Pacific coast and tropical rainforest. Ted Robinson Jr. designed a par-72 course that the official club page lists at 6,698 yards from the longest tees. Native plants, banana trees, orchids, monkeys and more than 150 bird species are part of the setting, while streams, ponds and dense vegetation shape the playing lines.
History: Los Sueños resort and its golf course were inaugurated around the turn of the millennium, with course references dating the opening to 1999. The golf course was later named La Iguana Golf Course in 2003. Robinson's design was built to keep the rainforest and coastal landscape central to the experience rather than treating them as scenery outside the fairways.
Did You Know? The signature 4th hole, called El Tucán, is a 545-yard dogleg right where a stream runs down the left side and then cuts diagonally across the fairway. The course also has five par threes, but the 6th is the only one where water does not protect the green.
