Overview: Located near Genappe in Walloon Brabant, Belgium, L’Empereur is a rolling 18-hole parkland course. The layout is routed across a highly undulating, open agricultural landscape, featuring significant elevation changes, wide fairways bordered by tall fescue grasses, and large, fast green complexes. The course is heavily exposed to wind, requiring players to control their trajectories and utilize the steep slopes to run the ball onto the putting surfaces.
History: Opened in 1990, the course was built to establish a highly strategic, modern competitive venue in the Belgian countryside. The layout was carefully designed to blend into the surrounding hills, minimizing artificial land movement while utilizing the natural slopes to create a highly challenging, physical test of golf.
Did You Know? The course is situated on historic land near the site of the Battle of Waterloo (1815). The club's name, "L’Empereur" (The Emperor), is a direct tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte, and the clubhouse features historic architectural elements reminiscent of a classic 19th-century farm estate.
