Overview: Kings is one of the two 18-hole courses at Kungsängen Golf Club, north-west of Stockholm. The layout combines pine woodland, open heath-like ground and water, creating a course where the safest line is not always the shortest one. Anders Forsbrand’s design places a premium on positioning and recovery, with the natural hazards shaping the player’s decisions from tee to green. The course is long enough to reward solid driving, but its visual challenge often comes from deciding how much of the landscape to take on.
History: Kungsängen Golf Club was established in 1989 and Kings became playable in 1993. The course was rebuilt in 1998 and later became part of the club’s Scandinavian Masters story, hosting the tournament in 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2005. The architecture is associated with Anders Forsbrand and European Golf Design, linking the course to Sweden’s modern tournament era.
Did You Know? Kings and its sister course share the same Stockholm-area facility but have different playing identities. Kings is the more tournament-shaped name in the pair, with the four Scandinavian Masters editions forming a distinctive part of its public story.
