Overview: Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club’s East Course occupies the Bukit Kiara site on the edge of central Kuala Lumpur. It is an 18-hole, par-71 parkland-style layout, with changing tee positions, elevation changes, wetland edges, lakes and dense tropical planting. The official hole guide shows a course that asks for more than length: the second hole narrows beyond its landing area, the 15th is an island-green par three, and the closing hole brings a lake and deep bunkering into the approach. The combination of shaped greens, water and established vegetation gives the course a distinctly strategic city-golf character.
History: The club records the original East Course date as 1991. KLGCC’s own account records a renovation in 2008 followed by a reopening in 2010, the date used here for the current configuration rather than the original course. The venue was also the home of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia from 2010 through 2017, when the East Course hosted leading international players. The club later became part of the TPC network before returning to the KLGCC name. As of the current official course page, the East Course is under renovation, an important status detail for anyone planning a round.
Did You Know? KLGCC describes the East layout as the “Grand Old Lady” of the facility. Its golf story is also an environmental one: the club says its grounds contain varied flora and fauna, while the official hole descriptions repeatedly bring wetlands, ponds and streams into play. The course’s 5,713-metre championship measurement is published in metric form by the club, so the yardage shown here is a conversion rather than a separate tee-card claim.
