Overview: The East Course at Kristianstads Golfklubb, located in Åhus in southern Sweden, is a spectacular links and heathland hybrid course built on a rare deposit of pure sand. Carved through pine forests and expansive fields of heather, the course features firm, fast fairways and responsive, contoured greens. The natural sand base ensures fantastic playing conditions year-round, encouraging a traditional ground game that requires creative shot-making and strategic thinking to navigate the coastal breezes.
History: Founded in 1924, Kristianstads is one of Sweden's most historic clubs, but the East Course was completely transformed in 2016 through a massive, highly successful redesign by former European Tour player Pierre Fulke. Fulke cleared out overgrown trees, expanded the fairways to reopen historic vistas, and rebuilt all 18 greens, successfully elevating the course into the top tier of European golf courses.
Did You Know? The club is situated just yards from the Baltic Sea coast, and the exceptionally dry sand base provides a unique microclimate that allows for excellent fescue turf development. The signature par-4 15th hole features a split fairway separated by a massive, natural sand blowout and heather, presenting a classic strategic choice off the tee.
