Overview: Located in a rugged coastal forest in southern Norway, Kragerø Golfklubb is a spectacular 18-hole woodland and coastal course designed by Per Haugsrud. The layout is carved through dense pine forests and massive granite outcroppings, featuring dramatic elevation changes and tight, heavily restricted fairways. The course is a severe test of target golf, requiring players to execute precise shots over deep ravines and rocky chasms to find small, secluded putting surfaces.
History: Opened in 2003, the course was built as the centerpiece of a major luxury coastal resort. The construction required extensive dynamite blasting to route the holes through the steep, rocky Norwegian terrain. The result is one of the most visually intimidating and spectacular championship layouts in Scandinavia, which has hosted several professional events on the Nordic Golf League.
Did You Know? The course offers breathtaking, panoramic views of the Kragerø archipelago and the Skagerrak sea from several elevated tee boxes. The signature par-3 holes require players to hit their tee shots from high granite cliffs down to greens surrounded by thick forest and steep rocky drop-offs.
