Overview: Kota Permai Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole parkland course in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, on a 170-acre site shaped by rolling ground, retained oil-palm buffers and a network of small lakes and ponds. Australian architect Ross Watson created the layout in the late 1990s; published course data gives it as a par-72 course of about 6,994 yards. Water comes into play on roughly half the holes, while the routing uses elevation changes and varied green approaches to make placement important.
History: The club opened its 18-hole course in 1998 and soon became a venue for professional golf in Malaysia. Kota Permai hosted the Volvo Masters of Asia in 2002 and 2004, regional World Cup qualifying in 2005 and the Malaysian Open in 2008. Those events form part of the course's documented history alongside its role as the golf centerpiece of the Kota Kemuning development.
Did You Know? The 2nd hole is a 364-yard par four with water left of the tee and a pond crossing in front of the green. Top100's course description also notes a pot bunker in the middle of the fairway, making the hole a compact example of Watson's risk-and-reward approach.
