Overview: Kooindah Waters Golf Club is a visitor-friendly Central Coast course built across the wetlands and former airfield landscape near Wyong. Ross Watson and Craig Parry designed an 18-hole par 72 layout that uses water, native vegetation and broad sandy ground to create a modern Australian test. At around 6,083 metres from the main tees, it has enough room for strong players to open their shoulders, but the preferred line often depends on avoiding the wetland edge and setting up the right angle into the green.
History: Development began in the mid-2000s and the course officially opened in 2006. The Central Coast anniversary record notes the early construction period, the first competition in October 2006 and the way the layout was shaped around the existing wetlands and airstrip setting. It has since become part of a stay-and-play destination, but the golf course remains the central reason many visitors make the trip.
Did You Know? Kooindah Waters is a course where the landscape carries visible evidence of its former use. The old airfield and low wetland ground create a sense of width from the tee, while the hazards narrow the practical landing areas. That contrast is the strategic idea running through the round: apparent room is not always safe room.
