Overview: Located near the North Sea coast in the Belgian province of West Flanders, Koksijde Golf ter Hille features the 18-hole Langeleed Course designed by British architect Jeremy Pern. Set on a flat landscape that was formerly agricultural polder land, this inland links-style course is highly exposed to strong coastal winds. The layout features deep sand hazards, native dune grasses, and expansive water features, requiring players to execute low-trajectory shots and use creative ground-game strategies to score well.
History: The club was established as part of a municipal tourism initiative, with construction beginning in the late 2000s and the official grand opening taking place in May 2014. Historically, the area held a connection to early golf, as a links course designed by Harry Colt existed nearby in the 1920s before closing. Pern sculpted the agricultural clay landscape to recreate a classic seaside links aesthetic while building a modern, ecologically sustainable public golf facility.
Did You Know? The facility has achieved international GEO Certified status due to its extensive environmental practices. The course features an advanced closed-loop water management system that collects, filters, and recycles municipal rainwater, ensuring that the turf is irrigated without using any local groundwater resources.
