Overview: Knysna Golf Club sits beside the Knysna Lagoon, a short drive from the Heads and in the middle of the Garden Route’s best-known travel corridor. The 18-hole course blends links and parkland qualities, with tidal pools, inlets, indigenous trees and birdlife shaping a round that is easy to walk but not easy to read. The club’s par-72 card includes four par fives, four par threes and ten par fours.
History: Knysna Golf Club was founded in 1909 and has grown alongside the town’s transformation from a timber and lagoon community into a major South African destination. The course has been upgraded over the last decade while retaining its local-club atmosphere, and the clubhouse remains part of the appeal for golfers travelling through the Southern Cape.
Did You Know? Water is in play on twelve holes, but the lagoon is not the only defining element. The course also provides habitat for a wide range of birdlife, making a round feel like a walk through the Garden Route landscape as much as a conventional parkland test.
