Overview: Knollwood Club is a private 18-hole course in Lake Forest, Illinois, designed by C.H. Alison and later updated by Drew Rogers. The layout occupies rolling former farmland with generous spacing, wooded edges and classic Golden Age green complexes.
History: The club was incorporated in 1924, purchased Knollwood Farm in 1925 and opened the course for play that year. Alison was commissioned to design the course without a restrictive construction budget, and the property later hosted the 1956 U.S. Amateur.
Did You Know? The 1956 U.S. Amateur at Knollwood was won by Harvie Ward, who defeated Ken Venturi in the match-play bracket before taking the title.
