Overview: Kitami Country Club is a long-established hill course on the western side of Kitami, with a traditional OUT and IN layout and broad views across the surrounding Hokkaido landscape. The current scorecard shows an 18-hole par-72 layout covering 6,536 yards from the back tees, with the course shaped by natural rises, falls and changing fairway angles. The layout asks for more than straight driving. Uphill and downhill lies alter club selection, while the course's mix of open approaches and tree-lined sections rewards a player who chooses landing areas carefully.
History: The club opened on 28 May 1966 and credits Nobukatsu Marumo as its designer. It remains an operating Kitami course with a clearly published 2026 season, although the season is necessarily shaped by Hokkaido's winter. That combination of long local history and current operation gives the course a useful place in a Kitami itinerary: it is an established regional club rather than a recently built resort layout.
Did You Know? The current back-tee scorecard divides the course into two almost even halves: the outward nine measures 3,245 yards and the inward nine 3,291. Both sides are par 36, but their different yardages make the turn more than a formality. The inward nine adds length, so a round that feels comfortably paced early can demand a more disciplined approach to the closing holes.
