Overview: Perched on the eastern shores of the Ards Peninsula, Kirkistown Castle Golf Club is a pure and historic James Braid links course. Established in 1902 and significantly redesigned by Braid in 1934, the course is celebrated for its firm, fast-playing fairways and its espectacular seaside setting. Characterized by its classic links bunkers and its exposure to the winds of the Irish Sea, Kirkistown offers a traditional and visceral test of "lowball" links golf that has remained largely unchanged for nearly a century.
Did You Know? The course is uniquely famous for having the ruins of a 16th-century tower-house castle situated right on the course grounds, which serves as a spectacular and unyielding hazard. Its exceptional natural drainage means it is one of the few courses in the country that can provide perfect, dry links conditions even in the height of the Irish winter, making it a year-round destination for enthusiasts of traditional architecture.
