Overview: Kingswood Golf Estate sits beneath the Outeniqua Mountains in George, where a links-style 18-hole course uses undulating ground, strategic bunkers and water to create a modern Garden Route test. The par-72 layout measures about 6,200 metres and offers four tee options on each hole, so the same routing can feel quite different depending on the chosen line. Mountain views are present throughout, but the course asks for concentration on the fairways and greens in front of you.
History: Danie Obermeyer designed Kingswood as the golfing centre of a new George estate, with professional golfer Sally Little involved as an early stakeholder and influence on the project. The course is commonly dated to 2007 and quickly became part of the Garden Route’s concentrated golf circuit, alongside George, Fancourt and the coastal courses around Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.
Did You Know? Sally Little’s influence is reflected in the course’s emphasis on offering a fair test across different tee positions. The result is a routing that can welcome less experienced players without removing the strategic options that stronger golfers look for in the landing areas and around the greens.
