Overview: Kenosha Country Club is a historic Donald Ross course in southeastern Wisconsin, laid out through rolling ground near the Pike River. The current blue-tee routing measures 6,530 yards and plays to par 70, with shaped fairways, traditional green sites and a quiet parkland setting. The layout rewards positioning more than simple distance, especially where the river landscape and small green complexes influence the safest angle of approach.
History: Donald Ross visited Kenosha in 1920 and returned in 1921 with Walter Hatch to lay out the holes and greens. The club opened the course in April 1922. A later restoration programme has focused on recovering Ross's strategic features and the character of the original green complexes, keeping the course connected to its Golden Age design history while maintaining a playable modern routing.
Did You Know? The site required substantial ground preparation because its natural soil was not ideal for turf. Historical accounts describe cinders, sand and loam being brought in to create the playing surface, an unusually physical piece of work behind a course that now reads as a settled parkland landscape.
