Overview: Kauri Cliffs is an 18-hole championship course above the Pacific Ocean at Matauri Bay in Northland. David Harman of Golf Course Consultants designed and built the layout, which plays to par 72 and measures 7,139 yards from the longest tees. The routing moves between inland farmland, coastal cliffs and broad views over the Cavalli Islands.
History: Kauri Cliffs was developed as part of a Northland luxury lodge and golf destination, with the course designed to preserve the character of the site’s coastal landforms. The completed routing uses the existing cliffs and valleys as strategic features rather than treating them as scenery only.
Did You Know? The course’s 15th and 16th holes are among its best-known coastal moments, with the 16th playing along the cliff tops as a long par four.
