Overview: Katsura Golf Club is a woodland masterpiece situated in a dense forest of ancient katsura trees in Hokkaido. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course features narrow corridors carved through the thick northern canopy. Each hole is isolated from the others, providing a quiet and focused environment where players must navigate undulating fairways, strategic water hazards, and elevated greens.
History: Opened in 1993, the course reflects the signature design style of Robert Trent Jones Jr., who sought to preserve the natural contours and mature trees of the site. The club has hosted several professional tournaments, earning a reputation as one of the most demanding tests of accuracy in northern Japan.
Did You Know? The course is named after the native katsura trees that line the fairways. These trees are known for their heart-shaped leaves, which emit a sweet, caramel-like scent during the autumn months, adding a unique sensory element to the round.
