Overview: Nuas is the 18-hole championship course at Katinkulta Golf in Vuokatti, set on a promontory beside Lake Nuasjärvi. The current Top100 profile lists 6,004 metres from the back tees, approximately 6,569 yards, with par 72. Jari Koivusalo redesigned the course using some of the original holes by Jan Sederholm, and the resulting routing moves between lakeside ground, pine forest, heathland and open wetlands. The layout’s out-and-back shape lets the lake return repeatedly as a strategic and visual reference.
History: Katinkulta’s original course opened in 1990 and soon became an important Finnish competition venue. The club records European, Nordic, Finnish and FGT events at the course, while its historical publication notes the 1994 Nordic Junior Championships, the 1996 Finnish team finals and the 1999 European Girls’ Team Championship. The present Nuas routing incorporates a later Koivusalo redesign alongside Sederholm’s original work, so 1990 records the course’s opening rather than the date of every current hole.
Did You Know? The twelfth finishes beside the lake with views toward Naapurivaara, Halolankallio and Nahkasaari. The seventeenth is a par 5 that gives a strong player the option of carrying water and reaching the green in two, setting up a bold penultimate-hole decision before the eighteenth returns to the clubhouse. The course also places two par 5s together at the start of the back nine, giving the round a distinct change of pace after the turn.
