Overview: Katathong Golf Resort & Spa is a valley course in Phang Nga where the scorecard is inseparable from the landscape. The official layout gives 18 holes, par 72 and 6,837 yards, with fairways threading through jungle, limestone hills, streams and waterfalls. Captain Wiwatchai Prangpitak is credited in the reviewed course record. Elevation changes and uneven lies are part of the round, but the design is not simply about surviving steep ground. Its interest comes from the way water, mountain views and changing approach angles work together from hole to hole.
History: The course was established in the mid-2010s as the golf centrepiece of a resort built around Phang Nga’s natural setting. A current course guide credits the design to Captain Wiwatchai Prangpitak in 2015. The resort’s own history and presentation connect the property with the region’s tin-mining heritage, while golf-travel material describes the layout as occupying a former mining landscape. That gives Katathong a sense of place beyond generic tropical resort planting.
Did You Know? A natural waterfall forms part of the setting in front of the clubhouse, and the course’s water is not limited to decorative ponds. The official layout records streams, lakes and cascading water features alongside the holes, so the landscape keeps reappearing as a playing consideration. Katathong’s most memorable quality is therefore the continuity between the valley’s natural forms and the lines of the course.
