Overview: Kashmir Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 parkland course on Maulana Azad Road in Srinagar. Pacific Coast Design lists the reconstructed course at 6,366 yards and describes a project shaped by the need to raise the playing level and improve drainage after the devastating September 2014 flood. The urban setting is characterised by mature trees and an established country-club atmosphere, while the Kashmir Valley gives the course a distinctive seasonal and cultural context. Its importance is not only scenic: it is one of Srinagar's historic golf institutions and a current full-course venue.
History: Historical reporting places the club in the British-era development of Srinagar, with one account dating the course to 1887. The present layout has a more recent chapter. After the 2014 flood caused extensive damage, J&K Bank commissioned Pacific Coast Design to lead a reconstruction, with Phil Ryan and Vincent Pinto associated with the work. Reconstruction began in May 2016 and Pacific Coast Design records the course reopening after about a year. This profile uses 2017 for that current reconstructed routing, not as the foundation date of the historic club.
Did You Know? Kashmir Golf Club's restoration was driven by drainage as much as by visual renewal. Pacific Coast Design says the redesign raised the course level and significantly improved drainage, a direct response to the flood damage. The project therefore illustrates how a historic urban course can require major technical rebuilding while retaining its identity as a tree-lined Srinagar golf club. The current routing is a practical example of adapting golf architecture to a flood-prone valley without discarding the site's long golfing history.
