Karuizawa 72 Golf (West Gold)

Overview: West Gold is the longer of Karuizawa 72 West’s two 18-hole routings. The current Prince brochure gives par 72 and 6,824 yards from the back tees, while the operator describes a broad, highland course with natural contours and a relaxed cart-based style. Gold’s fairway scale makes it friendly to committed driving, but the changing par pattern and raised green areas still reward placement.

History: Gold forms one half of the 36-hole West facility, alongside Blue. The official West layout explains that the two courses share the same highland setting but have separate hole sequences and scorecards. No reliable architect or routing-specific opening year was found in the current operator pages, so those fields are left blank rather than inferred from another Karuizawa course.

Did You Know? Gold’s front nine is par 38 and its inward nine is par 34. That unusual split is visible in the official hole card and helps explain why the routing can feel different from a conventional par-72 round, even though the total adds up in the familiar way.
